Mucinous Carcinoma of the Breast

Mucinous carcinoma also known as colloid carcinoma is a rare variant if invasive ductal carcinoma.
The cancer cells arises from the mucus or mucin which lines the inner layer of ducts.
It is commonly presents in the elderly age group 60-70 years old but can occur at any age.
It is the less aggressive type of breast cancer and less likely to spread to the lymph nodes. They are also usually hormone positive  and prognosis is good.
